With the holiday period still very much in full swing Hertford traveled to northeast London with a somewhat new-look eleven in the hazy heat on Saturday.
Rich Wills latched on to an early through-ball to open the scoring, changing the angle as the keeper tried to close him down and finishing well.
Darren Norman made it two shortly afterwards, seizing on a rebound from Ian Dunnett's high shot.
Nick Downer netted a brace before the break with a fizzing drag-flick and a neat swivel and strike across goal to make it 0-4 at the interval.
Dunnett got in on the act after half time, turning in a short corner routine won by Ciaran Begg after he had been unceremoniously halted at the top of the circle, and then got on the score-sheet himself, with a first time shot, after a flowing move was crossed by Dunnett from the right.
The centre back pairing of Simon Halfacre and Ben Tootell controlled the flow and pace of the game throughout, ably intercepting - a Tootell one handed reverse stick mid-air pick being the highlight - and releasing the runs of Joe Mari and Elliot Barling on the flanks.
After toiling in the sun the side then relaxed with a refreshment in front of some entertaining cricket where they were treated to a different way of scoring six.
With unavailability being a continued theme next week Hertford will have to try some new things when Bedford 3s visit the Simon Balle ground.
