Yo-Yo Season Continues

Saturday was a tough game against a well drilled Harpenden side who had shown good form so far this season. We were coming in off the back of a fantastic result last weekend and keen to put two wins in a row together.

The first half was a very equal affair but a couple of mistakes at the back gave the home team two quick goals in the last 5 minutes of the half. We managed to get one back through a neat Will Harris finish for the last touch of the half to reduce the deficit. We went into the break 2-1 down but felt it was against the run of play and that we were very much in the game. A diving goal line save from Crawley kept us in the game just minutes before the break.

A tough battle in midfield for Will Harris, Nick Downer Michael Branford and Tom Evans was the focal point of the game and we were faced with fantastic movement that we hadn't seen from any team this season. We kept our communication high and managed to keep them at bay whilst we continued to push on.

A couple of breakaway goals gave Harpenden a bigger lead but through a well worked move between Nick Downer , James Harris and a composed finish from Darren Norman brought us to within touching distance.

We couldn’t quite claw back the goals we needed and were 5-2 down when the final whistle blew on our short corner. A slick routine gave Forrester the chance to slot it in for our third but it was too little too late.

After 7 League games consistently following a Lose Win Lose Win pattern we are more than hopeful looking ahead to next week!
