Looking forward to another visit to the Olympic pitch, Hertford were in good spirits before the game looking forward to a tough challenge against a young and fit East London side. East London had the majority of possession in the first ten minutes but Hertford held solid at the back. We created a few chances of our own and got into the ‘d’ on numerous occasions but were unable to find the finishing touch.
After about 15 minutes a mistake in the middle let East London break and go one ahead. Hertford continued to push and went into half time 1-0 down. We were confident that if we did the basics we still stood a chance. A few more missed opportunities meant we still couldn’t get on the scoresheet and our defence held well until another mistake let East London take a 2-0 lead. At least we were creating chances which was positive.
We began to tire after chasing the game and gaps opened up. Again another mistake let East London get into our d and a smart finish from their centre forward gave them the final score of 3-0. Lesson learnt that mistakes cost games but we are determined to put it behind us and focus on a must win game against local rival Broxbourne next Saturday
