A great way to get into the game - or return - at a slower pace...

Letchworth Hockey club have been in touch to highlight their successful Walking Hockey programme, further details can be found below:

----------

Letchworth Hockey Club have been running Walking Hockey sessions since 2019. This year we made the decision to run the sessions from May to October alongside our Old & Bold summer hockey league. This proved very succesful with regular attendees and new members joining our club. Walking hockey has recently been highlighted on the BBC with a news article about a Bedford Hockey Club player 75 yr old Steph Daniels returning to regular hockey via her clubs walking hockey sessions.

At Letchworth we have our own hero, Rowena, who has picked up her stick again this year and had this to say...
“When I joined Letchworth as a 21 year old back in 1975 never ever would I have thought that I would still have the opportunity to represent a club team in 2023. Great fun back playing for LHC again”

Walking hockey, like many other walking sports, provides the opportunity for new members to try the game, retired players to return and those recuperating from injury or illness to have measured return to their regular game. Its fun, its sociable – its walking but its hockey.

Our vision at LHC is to encourage other members to join our sessions and other clubs to introduce Walking Hockey to their programmes which will enable Walking Hockey to grow throughout Hertfordshire and hopefully Nationwide.
