Ladies 1's Return to Winning Ways

After a short break for the Hertford Ladies 1’s, and fixture vs Berkhamsted of which the loss is put down to post half-term blues, the Hertford Ladies 1’s were back again with a close table battle with Bluehearts 2s.

Following a motivating team talk and warm-up, the team made a positive start to the game with an early, goal scored by this week's Man of the Match - Sophie Rawlinson. Sophie’s goal featured the combinations of an impressive shot on target; her recently termed the ‘Sophie Spin’, and a cool under pressure mentality which produced a powerful hit that saw the ball fly through the air straight to the back of the net. Soph, next week just work on a modest post-match celebration.

As the game continued another goal was scored by a dynamite shot at goal by Molly Pallet, albeit with the final touch being a deflection by the opposition. An unfortunate scenario for Bluehearts, however, they managed to score a goal towards the end of the first half with the score at 2-1 at halftime.

A break at halftime allowed the team to regroup on tactics and saw a strong start to the second half. The team executed a series of set plays, and communication saw the team keep up the tempo, with hard work from the opposition giving us plenty to do to keep focused on. The hard work and effort by all was paying off, with an excellent fast-paced deflection goal scored from Yasmine Thompson which put us in the lead to 3 – 1. This scoreline could have been increased further had our funniest moment of the day Lucy Whitmore, missed an open shot on goal. Next time.

Next week sees us play against our local rivals Broxbourne. The league battle continues.
