Below is a list of frequently asked questions about key aspects of club life!

When are club trials?
At Hertford hockey club, there is currently no formal trial process. We welcome players of all ages and abilities!

For adults, please contact our club captains to find out more about the teams, and you will be able to join one of our training sessions to 'trial' with our teams.

For juniors, we welcome all youngsters. All new juniors can attend taster sessions before parents need to decide about committing to the club. If you want to attend a taster session, please contact our junior membership secretary here.

I’ve never played hockey before. Is it possible to try it before I join?
Absolutely! At Hertford we are happy for all new players to see if they enjoy the game first before they commit, we want you to be happy at the club.

For adults, we are happy to welcome you to a training session to help you get a taste of the game and get to meet other members of the club and feel part of the family. Contact the club captains here to find out when the next session is. We also run 'back to hockey' sessions for beginners and those returning to the sport after some time away.

For juniors, contact the Junior Membership Secretary here to find out when the next training session is for your age group.

Where do we play?

When is the hockey season?
The main hockey season runs from mid September until late March/early April. Matches run on most Saturdays, with most leagues giving a week half term ('slip week') break, and the mid season break over the Christmas holidays.

At Hertford HC, we like to ensure we have opportunities to play year round, so through the Summer we have:
The Broxbourne Summer League

Vets Friendly Matches

For juniors, the seasons dates are the same, and we run holiday hockey camps in half terms and the Easter and summer holidays in partnership with 1-2-1 Hockey Coaching. For details check here.
