Boys U14 Stags and Broxbourne

Boys U14 Stags had a good late morning tournament at Broxbourne having arrived ready warmed up from their usual Sunday morning training session.

Match 1 v Pottars Bar Won 2-0

The boys started briskly with some neat passing and good running off the ball using the width of the pitch and space well. Joshua, Matthew and Lawrence had to soak up some pressure from some quick breaks from Pottars Bar who shot wide a couple of times and drew a couple of well timed kicks from Zack in goal. Sean, Lawrence and Cormac passed well through midfield, while up front Hertford dominated much of the game with goals from Matthew and Cormac whilst Louis Joe caused the Bar defence great trouble on a number of occasions.

Match 2 v Broxbourne Lost 1-0

The Stags squad rotated (including a debut for Edward) but the fast pace of their midfield and forward line continued. Hertford had a number of shots at goal and narrowly missing on either side of the goal and drawing some good saves from the Broxbourne 'keeper. A little frustration seemed to creep in with a consequential loss of control on the ball and conceding a couple of penalty corners. With four minutes left a scramble in the Hertford goalmouth saw Broxbourne force the ball into the back of the net for the only goal of the game.

Match 3 v Blueharts Won 2-1

A very even game with some quick passing hockey from both sides ensuring end to end excitement. Hertford's defence held firm to see off a number of Blueharts' attacks with James and Arthur doing well to clear their D wile Zack again proved his worth in goal. At the other end it was Hertford who opened the scoring with Cormac getting his second of the day from a slick move in open play. A hard fought midfield battle ensued from which Hertford had a momentary lapse in defence allowing two Blueharts attackers through at Zack in goal and between them they made no mistake in equalling the score. The Stags were not for settling for the draw though and upped the pressure on Blueharts. A ball out to the left found Edward just outside the D who did well to survive a couple of tackles from the Blueharts defence before pushing the ball into the middle of the D where Louis Joe made no mistake in beating the 'keeper for a well deserved goal.
