UNDER 14s
We welcome new and experienced players at Under 14 level School Years 8 and 9). Children can borrow a hockey stick when they are trying out the game, but we do ask that children wear shinpads.
We make sure that new players are given time to learn the basic skills in the first few weeks when they start. We find that this basic training help new players to enjoy learning at their own level, and to develop the confidence and skills to play with the wider group.
The sessions start at 9.30am with a warm up and fitness session, and then we move straight into drills and exercises on the main pitch. At this age, we need to encourage children to become used to playing on a full sized pitch, so we also have training matches to help. The sessions finish at 11am.
For the first time we have entered an Under 14s Girls Team and an Under 14s Boys team in the National Cup this year.
We also encourage children at this age to try out for the Hertfordshire County squads. We have a good number of players from the club who now train and play for the County.
